Hi all my names Dave, im a Type 1 Diabetic.

I was diagnosed on my tenth birthday and im now 22. It was well overdue me joining a Diabetic forum so here i am. im a healthy weight of 9 and a half stone and im 5ft 8 inches tall. im on Novorapid fast acting insulin and Levemir slow acting and taking 4-5 injections per day.

Being diagnosed at ten its now part of my life i've accepted and i cant remember any different, Diabetes ruined my dreams of joining the Army when i left school and now i work as a sales assistant. i work bad hours and feel im not controlling my diabetes as good as i should be. over the past week ive been testing regularly and have been fairly happy with the results! my main issue is keeping it up, then i go back to eating poorly and not monitoring my levels.

Im sure everyone here feels that living with Diabetes is a big inconvenience, i want to find a way of controlling or even curing my diabetes without being reliant on medicine, are there any options?

another issue is what happens if we can no longer access medicine due to some reason, how can i survive without my insulin?

sorry for all the gloomy questions just these are things that have been on my mind lately maybe some of you think or feel the same, looking forward to chatting with you all,

Dave
