Hi everyone
My name is Pauline (polly) and have just joined the forum.
I was diagnosed with type 2 about 7 years ago and coped well, keeping glucose levels reasonable at about 7.2 - 8 with the use of metformin and glicazide, also have had high BP for 30 years. Am 63 years of age, married with a son of 34 yrs.
18 months ago I had an acute pancreatitis attack which put me in hospital for 6 months, it being one of the most severe types. The attack was caused by gall stones and six months after leaving hospital I went back to have the gall bladder removed.
During my hospitalisation for AP I had severe problems, with necrotising pancreas, colon and lung problems, my body was shutting down due to septicaemea and other serious infections. I was put on an insulin sliding scale and when I was discharged was given insulin (humalog mix) which replaced the oral medication.
I joined the pancreatitis uk support group when I came out of hospital a year ago and have had so much support from them,it is amazing. I found diabetes uk and joined just recently as I really need some help and guidance from others with the same condition as it seems that my diabetes has progressed from simple to mind boggling in one step.
Am looking forward to reading some of your past posts and hoping that someone will be kind enough to point me in the right direction as I have loads of things to ask.
Thankyou for reading my introduction and hope to meet you all on here soon.
