Hi people, looking forward to speaking with you all, i'm new here hopefully after advice from yourselves and experiences you've had regarding holidays and things. also if there are any healthcare professionals out there who can help that would be great.

My name is Pete, i'm 24 and a support worker who supports a gent with type 1 as he has been newly diagnosed and unable to administer the insulin himself we have a district nurse who visits twice a day.

Myself and my colleagues would like to make sure that he gets to go on holiday this year, even if its just a couple of days in a caravan somewhere not too far away. what I would like to know is are there ways and means that he can go on holiday and still get insulin such as, are we able to inform the local doctors or nurses in the area we would be staying so that our service user could get his insulin from them or is it a little more complex than this?

all of your advice will be greatly appreciated and I hope I get to make some friends on here too :-) many thanks

Pete, I can't answer your question myself, but there will be someone in here who has something useful to say. The board is often quieter at weekends but hang on in there, you'll get a reply...

Hi Pete,

It is nice to know that you are taking your occupation seriously and a holiday seems like a great idea.

I would ask the District Nurse who administers his injections what the procedure is if this chap decides to go on holiday. It may mean contacting his GP as well.
