Bit of a sad post/vent today

For a few weeks now I’ve been trying my hardest not to get back into my mental health issues especially now since I gotta focus on my studies, I joined the forum shortly after I came out of my second depressive relapse and I think I may be going into another one, so far I’ve been good at blocking my intrusive thoughts, didn’t sleep last night and am a bit worried for tonight (I used to have super bad insomnia) and I keep distracting myself but it js don’t work sometimes… I think right now it’s all passive and I need to make sure it doesn’t get active if you know what I mean…

Hi
Old bloke here who takes anti depressants...
I don't like this time of year at all.
The leaves are dropping its getting colder and darker.

I'm a school caretaker and the other week i repotted a plant and since then its getting bigger and shinier and i have several plants outside my office.
The children in school make me laugh with their honest view on life.
I made some conker creatures with a little one who is struggling in class yesterday and the delight on his face showing his mum made me realise i'm not just a caretaker.

My point being its the simple things in life that makes the world go round.

I wish you well

Tony

Tony. I wish you were the caretaker at my school

Hi @Hoodiegirl3, it's a horrible feeling when you put your head down on the pillow and bang your instantly awake. Your brain is active and for some reason seems to hate you. "What's that noise? Did you hear that? Could it be the cat? Oh wait we don't have a cat. Must be a MURDER THEN!!!"

It's a struggle to quiet the thought process, thinking of the day or stressing over tomorrow. Even the though of going to bed can be stressful at times.

I have found "OM chanting play lists on Youtube surprisingly helpful"
They might work for you I will list a couple below to see if its any help, the music plays in the background your brain start to focus on unwelcome thoughts and then the music goes.
OM.
Your brain goes "what! wait I was having an unwelcome thought I need to go back to that thought."
OM.
"What! wait I was having an unwelcome thought what was it again?"
OM.
"What! what was I thinking of"
OM.
"What! w....."
OM
and before you know it your asleep.
(I was sceptical too when I first tried them, it can take 15-20 mins just stick with it)

One thing to be aware of if you have had a couple of sleepless nights the first good night sleep you get you will usually have more vivid and intense dreams as the brain compensates for lost REM over the last couple of nights its perfectly normal.

Here are some links to Youtube OM chanting sleep tunes at different frequencies try a couple see if one resonates with you.
OM Chanting 397 Hz
OM Chanting 432 Hz
This seems to work best for me OM Chanting 528Hz
OM Chanting 963Hz

Hope they work for you.

Aww thanks,
For me I’m not really that sorta person but music helps sometimes I have this whole playlist dedicated for help to sleep but yk I’ll try it

I do hope you did sleep better. Depression is a really horrible illness, and can be fatal - I've lost several friends to it over the years. So please, if you don't start to feel better very soon, do go to your doctor and get help.

I mean this is what? My third relapse or something? Lost count and hopefully tryna survive this one
But I’m sorry that happened to you

So how are you feeling now. I fully understand where you are with this. My way of trying to drown out the noise thats invading my head, is to really ask myself what's triggered me, usually its a build up, time of year I do have so many triggers. I try and break it all down but then I have the compulsion's to deal with also which makes it a living nightmare. My sanity is eased by routine, exercise, meditation, journaling, sewing and as I am a hairdresser anything that gets me creating, anything that I can control like bg, diet etc and distracting myself. I also get in to a habit of telling myself I am a good person as I was never told this growing up and headphones, thank the heavens for those! I hope you feel better and can drown out the "noise" do you have a support worker who knows about mental health. Sometimes just sounding off helps.
