Hi My name is lindy mai and im 56 years old and need a bit of advice please. I have been to the chemist for diabetes test as i have been pre diabetic for a few years and i have been feeling a bit unwell for a couble of weeks. The first test after a couble of hours not eating came back 6. 5 and the second test after a 12 hour (or over night) fast came back 7.8 The chemist has told me to see my doctor ,the question is do you know if the finger prick test is as good as a blood test which the doctor does? I cannot see the doctor until next week. Not sure if this is a sign of diabetes or not.
Any advice will be gratefully recieved.
 
Hi, Lindy mai, welcome to the forum. Please take the chemists advice and see your doctor as those readings are high for a non diabetic.
The finger prick tests are accurate enough to show that your blood sugar levels are high.
