Hi

I was diagnosed with T2 in 2002, after having my daughter, although over weight i believe that as i was told i had developed gestational diabeties during the pregnancy they never tested me afterwards, it was still there and developed into T2. I was given a blood glucose test kit and put on Metformin straight away but no one ever actually explained any of this to me and i was left to deal with it all on my own, i found it all confusing and never really took any notice of it or what i was to do, this did not help.

I was put on Insulin in 2006 as i was not controlling my sugar levels well at all despite using the tablets and diet, i became extremmly depressed and hated needles and so after a year i took myself off the insulin and did not tell the doctors, they did however find out in 2008, they was not happy, but said they would not put me back on the insulin. I have since had 2 mini strokes still take the tablets and still very all over the place, i have either low or high test results and really want to go back on teh insulin as it really helps control it, however i am scared that they will say no, however i feel that i really need this and dont know what to do

Hi rach_79

Good evening and welcome to the forum. Your healthcare team are there for your benefit, and should be interested in your welfare and good health. Us diabetics have lost the ability to deal with high carbohydrate food. Stick with the forum and it will get you into good control. There are no stupid questions, so ask away. :)

Welcome to the forum,Rach. If you managed to come off insulin then there must still be some pancreatic cells still working. What kind of diet are you on? What sort of levels are you having?
