Hi everyone - I'm new to this forum. I'm from West Australia. I've lived with type 2 diabetes for 17 years now. I was diagnosed when I was 25 years old along with polycystic ovarian syndrome the same day. It came as a shock and it has been quite a journey ever since. I now manage my sugar levels using both basal (lantus) and bolus (apidra) insulins. I have 4 injections per day, sometimes more if I'm having to correct or having a snack. I look forward to having a look around and getting some tips and sharing my experience with everyone. I also live with multiple other conditions and currently under the care of an endocrinologist who mainly is more interested in what is happening with my other stuff rather than the diabetes itself... he says out of everything I have my diabetes is probably the disease that is best controlled. My last hbA1c was 7% which is the highest I've had in a bit... but he was quite happy with that and explained that with all my other stuff he doesn't expect I could easily get tighter control. Also he wants me to avoid hypos.
