This time I'm introducing myself instead of just jumiping in....
Was diagnosed with type 2 nine months ago. Was very overweight, but Metformin and diet control, spurred on by being seriously scared and worried, helped to shift a couple of stone. Now trying Byetta, as Metformin no longer agreeing with me. In a strange way diabetes has been the saving of me, as it has stopped my spiral of weight gain and made me pull up sharp with diet/sugar foods etc. Haven't had a Mars bar for nine months - yeahy! The key to my success is my diabetic dietician, courtesy of NHS who is the best, amazing and totally clued in - she explained that accepting and taking offered medication is a process of negotiation - don't have to just do as told, which was first instinct. So...pleased to have been diagnosed, feeling mainly well looked after and physically in far better shape than this time last year.
