I'm lucky enough to still be pre diabetic.
I have been lurking for ages, as I am very shy.
I admire you all so very much for being so brave, kind and giving.
I am delighted to have learned so much as it gives hope and motivation.
I wish you all the very, very best and am honoured to be part of this community.

Hi Dial999 and a warm welcome to the forum I am glad you have already learnt a lot from this forum. In case you haven't seen this on your travels, here is the information we give to new members. I know you are pre-diabetic, but it is very important to look after yourself well as you may be able to avoid the progression to full diabetes if you are very careful. Ask as many questions as you like as there is always someone here to help.

Hello

I was told 2 years ago I was told by the Doctors I was pre-diabetic, but not to worry and no need to do anything about it.

5 weeks ago I was diagnosed as Type 2 Diabetic. And it seems I could have delayed or even avoided full blown Diabetes if I had known to take it seriously 2 years ago.

There is lots of info and support here. Ask anything you like. And please, please take it seriously and follow the suggestions so you dont end up like me.

Hi Dial and welcome

Take a read of the excellent information daisy has posted above......good luck!

Hi Dial,

You are possibly in a very lucky position. That may sound strange! But if you are careful and watch your lifestyle, you could avoid full T2.

The doc picked up sugar in my urine about 3 years ago and sent me for a blood test. As my Hb1ac was normal he said I was fine and that was that.

2 months ago I had my medical, again they found sugar in my urine and this doc sent me for a glucose tolerance test and I was diagnosed T2. If they had did this in the first place I might have prevented full t2.

The good thing is though, i have managed to control my blood sugar without any medication by just watching my carbohydrate intake.

Good luck and now is the time to learn as much as you can, to avoid problems in the future.
