Hello,
been reading the Diabetes.co.uk website since I was diagnosed as Type 2 diabetic last October and have been trawling the forums. Just wanted to stop lurking and say hi and thank everyone for posting such great advice, it's really helped a lot. I went into automatic pilot when I was first diagnosed and just kind of went along with everything my health professionals told me. As a result I started to feel I'd lost control and suffered a bad period of anxiety and depression. Thanks to some informed information here and from other sources I feel like I'm in control of the diabetes now and not the other way round!!
The best thing I've done to help myself is forget about calorie counting and throw away the scales. I've stuck to a low carb healthy(ish) diet without being too hard on myself
it worked for me and I've lost over 3 and a half stone now (the doctor makes me get on the scales lol). Its coming up to a year now since I was diagnosed and I feel better than I have for years!!
anyway good luck to you all dealing with this thing!!
Anne-Marie
