Hi everyone,
just been on the phone to my doctor's and the emergency appointment i have been able to get to see my new gp is saturday morning! As other wise i would have to see the other doctor who just does not care!
Spoke to the nurse and told her that need the glucose intollerence doing soon as! she said that it takes weeks to be able to get the stuff in for the test, then she would have to be able to find the time to put by to see me!
i am really at my wits end now! my blood sugar went up to 18.4 last night, i have been eating a low carb, not eating bread pasta rice, any chocolate, no fizzy pop, no potatoes,
there was no need for it, i explained this to the nurse this morning on the phone, and she said that i will have to wait until she can order the stuff in!
i have a appointment with my new doctor at 8.45 on saturday but this is now getting silly! i have a eye appointment tomorrow as i am getting terrible pains in my eyes and been refered to a specilaist at the hospital!
my blood sugars are all over the place! and then the nurse says i will have to wait, as medication etc can not be given out until tests are proven postitive!
i just don't know what to do know as i am scared and feel so alone! i am affraid, as i have noticed that everyday i seem to be dozing even more through the day, come 6 at night i am so worn out all i can do is sleep! i am up and down 4 or 6 times a night,
i am only drinking water and i am drinking like a fish i cannot get enough of it, i am doing about 2 to 4 litres of water a day! i know that is not normal, explained that to the nurse she just said will have to wait!
My doctor asked the glucose intollerence to be done as a emergency and still not done yet! i am so scared about what is happening!

Sandy,
As you have tried using the proper channels to get someone to listen to you and no one is bothering then I would suggest that A@E is your next stop. Blood tests can be done at the local hospital and there is no need for this nurse to suggest that it takes weeks to implement them!!!!
What an uncaring team you seem to have. Waiting until Saturday is not an emergency appointment and only you know how you are feeling.
Catherine.

Have to agree with catherine, bypass the idiots and take yourself to A & E. They will sort you out with the necessary tests. I can't believe how incompetent your care team are. It's so disappointing that this sort of thing is still happening.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Sandy,
i agree with Catherine, you would be far better spending a couple of hours in A&E and getting this sorted than having to wait till Saturday, which i think is a bloody disgrace (sorry for the wording, it just makes me soooo angry) Let us know how you get on, we'll all be thinking of you,
Take care,
Suzi x

This makes me so mad!!!  Jeez you can buy a packet of glucose in any supermarket. Please go to A&E and please report this to them as well,I would also write to your local PCT this is so unacceptable.

Hi Sandy,
I don't know if you have posted anything else, if so I haven't read any of it, so apologise if I am asking questions that you have provided answers to elsewhere. First of all, I am assuming your unhelpful nurse thinks you are Type 2, and is therefore not too worried about your case, which is unacceptable as you're feeling terrible, but I think health prof's often do not see Type 2 as an emergency (some don't even see Type 1 as an emergency, and that's if they know the difference!).

The thing is that if you are perchance Type 1, then time really IS of the essence, as you may be developing ketones, which is a very dangerous situation. Your chances of being Type 1 increase if you are young (under 40), and slim (and possibly losing weight). This is not to say that you couldn't be Type 1 if you are older and weightier (much like my goodself!), you still could be.

What you need to do is buy some Ketostix OTC at the chemist and check your urine for ketones. If you have more than a trace, then get yourself to A+E immediately, and tell them this and that your BG is high. This is a medical emergency and you are fully justified in going straight to hospital.
Ketoacidosis can make you critically ill very quickly ( a matter of hours) once it sets in.

If you start feeling worse than you do already, especially with stomach pains, vomiting, pear drop smell on the breath, extreme sleepiness, lots of weeing and drinking, then seek medical help without delay.

Sorry if I sound alarmist, but it's better to be safe than sorry!
Best wishes

Hi everyone and sue,
The doctor thinks that i am type 2, just come back from taking my mum to train station as she is going back to sheffield today!
Had a bottle of water while i was there had no breakfast or anything, my first blood sugar this morning was 7.3, but when i took it 5 mins ago had gone up to 9.6, i have not eaten so don't understand why this is happening!
I have phoned the doctor's again and the nurse spoke to me and she said that she is doing her best but there are other people she has to see as well!
I have spoken to a&e at our local hospital and spoke to a very nice nurse there, she said that she is going to phone my doctors and try to push the nurse into seeing me! as in her eyes this needs to be sorted and it would be easier to be done at local doctor's than sitting around in the hospital!
I explained how i am feeling, i have noticed that my eyes have got worse today, could not see the letter that my mother was showing me!
my mum was saying that the doctor is good, but the nurse is terrible up there and i feel that the nurse is not listening, i am at putpatients tomorrow for my eyes at local hospital! i am thinking of saying some thing while i am there!
I am feeling awful, i feel down at the minute, i am feeling sick, but that is because i have not eaten, i intend to have something to eat in a minute!

Just had a call from the nurse at doctor's she has fixed the date now for glucose intollerence it has been set for the 30th of march two weeks from today at 9am, i am still going to see my doctor, have got a emergency appointment for tomorrow morning at doctor's instead of saturday!
At least that is sorted now!

Best of luck! This is sounding suspiciously like LADA. I would have suggested taking yourself to ER/Casualty and while you are there asking if they can recommend a competent doctor which yours and especially the nurse are most definitely NOT.

Whatever else occurs, ask your friends, ask the pharmacist, ask anyone you can for a better doctor!

Hi
i have two hours after my stir fry for dinner with no rice! just chicken and veg!
my blood sugar has shot up from 7.3 to 12.7, i am thinking this is not good!
