I'm a Type 2 myself. The health people might tell you that an HbA1c of 7.0 is OK but most people on these forums will tell you to shoot for lower - personally, I recommend below 6. My advice would be to cut back on the carbohydrate that you eat especially in the morning. I've found that cereals of almost every kind was my worst enemy - even things like porridge, All Bran, Weetabix, Shredded Wheat etc.
I also recommend that you start testing if you aren't already doing that. You will soon be able to spot the foods that send your blood glucose levels high.
thanks for that john
i am hoping to get a tester and start testing ,even thogh my doctors policy is not to give out testers and strips
can anyone tell me where i can find strips at a reasonable price.

I used to buy strips off eBay when my GP wouldn't prescribe them for me. However, he changed his mind and now prescribes them after he saw what a massive improvement I achieved by testing.
Meters can be acquired free from several of the manufacturers - or bought in the chemists.
