Non-insulin injectable medication (incretin mimetics)
I'm a 58 year old man who has been diabetic for the last 10 years. Always been poor at weight control. Having just used medication to control blood glucose levels. That was until October this year. The 6 monthly blood test showed a average of over 10. This was the wake up call I required. I was put on lyxuma injecting once a day plus 4X metformin per day. I already take tablets for heart problems and glopidogrel as a blood thinner following a number of small strokes. I also have angina.

At 21 stone I was really far to heavy. Even before starting the new drug I started to low carb. I now have a meter to test and monitor my blood glucose levels. I'm now as of 6th December 19 stone. I have just started my third week on Lyxuma going from 10mg to 20mg injections. Apart from a few days of the runs no side effects. Blood sugars between 5.7 and 6.9 on average. The best part is not feeling so tired and having more energy as well as feeling the benefits of taking control of my health and not relying on medication just to do the job.
