Hello, my name is Debra.
I have lived with Diabetes all my life (32 years). I am here on Diabetes.co.uk looking for a few answers about CGMS. I have heard that there are a few (4 or 5) out there...but the subject of whose is the best has eluded me. I haven't had the best time with my Diabetes, until 5 years ago ; and now I am having major problems with keeping my blood sugars from roller coastering. My doctor is now suggesting that I get a continuous glucose monitoring system. I have looked at 2; DexCom, and Medtronic - Minimed. Please, can anyone help me as to whose is the best?

Hiya Debs :waving: and a very warm welcome to the forum. Its f-f-f-fer freezing outside but always warm and friendly in here. I can't help you with info on CGMS but hopefully someone will be along before too long with some helpful advice for you.
 
Hi Debra - welcome to the forum I'm not a CGMS user I'm afraid so can't be of any help to you there but someone will know I'm sure.

I have just received the following info from my DSN as I was looking to buy one:

Guardian Realtime CGMS £2600 with 10 sensors. All the results on screen and it interacts with their pump. New sensors £375 for ten. They last 6 days.

Also every 6 months you will need a new transmitter at a cost of £375 EACH!

My DSN suggested the pump was £750 and at that price I would have gone for it. £2600 plus for it is too much tho.

Its a shame these medical equipment suppliers dont realise the benefit and resulting increase in Sales if they only reduced the price to something more affordable.
