Hi

Re: Pre-proliferative retinopathy etc

I've had early stage retinopathy & maculopathy for several years, never severe enough to warrant any treatment. There is some variation. At my last annual test earlier this month, the technician checked against the previous year's photos & saw no change.

She did say that more serious levels can improve with good sugar control. I've been on a reduced carb diet for the last 9 months, & all the blood measurements are better, so here's hoping.

I went to a lecture by the the head of retina screening last summer, & he emphasised good control as the best way of avoiding trouble.

What does your report actually say?

Hope you do get the treatment you need in good time.

Its discussed on this thread.

Note that there is a very useful phone number - they were very helpful when I phoned.
The talk on Wednesday was by Shahjalal Ahmed of the screening service. He stressed the phone number for queries 020 8998 5541. I think you would be able to phone, even if you are not in the West London area.
