My DN and doctor were not happy with my last HBA1C reading of 49 which was down from 60 so are insisting I have to have another HBA1C 2 weeks after the last one. Both think increased medication is the answer to everything so I have been on LCHF diet for past 2 weeks. I have not lost weight but have previously lost 3.5 stone. All was going well readings much better than expected except this morning of 8.5. I had chicken breast and salad for meal at 7.30pm. My readings have always been higher in the mornings but why so high this morning and how do I stop it happening. I am on 1Metformin SR 1000mg am and pm. I have the next blood test tomorrow and dreading going for the results.

Hi @Kingl ,

Please read this page as an explanation of the most likely reason.....

As for stopping it, @Brunneria might be able to offer some pearls of wisdom.

Hi,

Thanks @urbanracer , I think this is the thread you mean. :)

Since introducing intermittent fasting, my DP BG has drifted slowly downwards over about 6 months. Now rarely see a fasting BG above 6.2, which is a huge improvement on the high 7s and 8s I used to see regularly, with higher numbers occasionally.
