:?: I am having big problems with my morning readings, I can wake up with BG level of anywhere between 3.0 and 20.0. This morning I woke with a nice 6.4 :D got the kids ready for school and just before I left did another test so as I could drive my level had gone from 6.4 to 17.8  and by the time I got back it was 22.4  .If my levels are high I always just have a dose of insulin before doing anything but as it was in range I thought I could do the school run then have my first breakfast for over 3 weeks, but No I am going to have to go without as per usual. I have a big intolerance to insulin in the mornings so I have 1 unit per mmol I am over target.Does anyone have any ideas for me I am on Lantus for my background and take Humalog for my quick acting. :?: :?:

Is your lantus running out? What time of day do you take it? Is it worth discussing splittling the dose? Maybe try changing the time of day you take it? Or, as you suggested in your other thread...keep asking for a pump. best of luck.

Thanks for the quick reply sugar2 I take my lantus before bed so I should see me through till at least tea-time, the nurse I speak to monthly at the hospital has spoken to me about splitting my dose but I have a lot of fatty deposits so am unable to use my legs to inject anymore, I have to have my lantus in my buttocks and I don't fancy having to do that twice a day!

Have you done some testing through the night to rule out nocturnal hypos which may be causing a rebound the following morning?

I do wake myself up between 2 and 4 most mornings and sometimes later than that, my sugars seem to start to rise somewhere between 5 and 6.30, am speaking to the hospital about changing me from Lantus to something else.
