Hello all, for the last couple of weeks my BG levels have been going up and up, it doesn't seem to matter what I do or what I eat, trying desperately to get it lower with no success, what I want to know is will these high levels impact on my next HbA1c due in Sept. I have made an appointment to see the doctor but that isn't until next Tuesday :x hope you can help.

Yes, any higher readings will affect your HbA1c, it is an average so the higher readings will be pushing average up. A few higher readings won't make a lot of difference, but lots of them will.

It could be that you need some more or different medication, T2 is progressive, we do our best to slow it down and even halt it for a while but eventually BGs will begin to climb and then it time for something to help.

Remember that the spikes can be damaging, that is why the HbA1c, giving an average, misses the spikes so for day to day monitoring it is pretty useless.

Keep a chart and mention the higher reading to your DSN or doc. they might have some answers.
