High blood glucose and cold/flu/covid

Hi all
I have recently picked up a nasty cold with some Covid type symptoms too. I’m feeling a bit rough but not terrible, however my blood glucose levels remain unusually high.
I generally have a very low carb diet and my average levels (as reported by Libre 2+) are around the 6.8 mark. Since Sunday they are rarely below 9 and often very much higher.
Has anyone experience this ? Is it a known issue ? Is it better to try to eat as little as possible or exercise? Walking brings it down.
Thanks.

It’s very common to have temporary raised BG when we are ill, your body is doing all it can to fight infection etc.

If you feel like exercising than as long as your bloods aren’t too high it may help & sticking to your low carb as much as possible will help too. But just do what you can, sometimes our diabetes has to take a back seat.

I’ve just had a bout of food poisoning & all I wanted when starting to feel better was carbs. I normally do a keto diet. I couldn’t face my normal foods so have been having a little bit if higher carb food, my numbers were up in the 8s which is unusual for me. But almost back in the game today & my BG are returning to normal range for me.

Hope you’re feeling better soon

@Retepnhoj , a while back now I had a high fever, around 103, my blood sugars shot up to 17 . They usually hover between 6-7 . They stayed high for about a week, before coming back down to normal. It’s usual for blood sugars to rise when you feel ill, as your body is under stress.
