High blood sugar after exercise

I exercise 3 times a week, when I finish I have a coffee and I check my blood sugar level which always
seems high, is this because of the exercise or the coffee or both !!

Depends on the exercise. Aerobic exercise, like walking, will bring your blood sugars down. However if you are doing anaerobic exercise, running, heavy weights, so pushing yourself your body will be demanding more energy, your liver will oblige, dumping more glucose into your bloodstream. However your cells won't take this up quickly enough due to insulin resistance, so yes your blood sugars will then rise. If I spend an hour in the gym, and work up a sweat, run my heart at about 95% capacity my blood sugars will rise significantly. If I take a 3 mile stroll along the beach, they drop

Me too. If I cycle for an hour moderate intensity my BS drops to in the 4s, if I swim it always rises to mid 6s. I do tend to "go for it" in the pool and it obviously puts more of a strain on my body.

Agreeing with the others. Up to a 45 min fast walk will drop my BG.. over that and it starts to rise.
3 hours fairly fast dancing raises my BG a lot so I take a few almonds to snack on which seems to keep it under control.
