high blood sugar

my readings have been quite good for a while. but now it's gone up to max of 14. how do I bring it down quick? I've got a diabetic dvla consultant to see tomorrow now I'm panicking.
 
Have you been shown how to calculate a corrective dose?
 
Paul they could be elevated because of the stress of seeing the diabetic dvla consultant tomorrow?
