That needs to be checked immediately by a doctor.
Do not wait. Call NHS 111, now.
Do you have anyone with you @Sparklebright62 ? Have you taken your diabetes medication?

Hi to you,

My blood Sugar has gone back down somewhat now to 17.6 I've had blood sugar medication since I came back from shopping.

I feel ok at the moment.

I have messaged doctors but they have not contacted me at all.

Always double check an unexpected and high level in case you had traces of something on your finger contaminating the sample. A confirmed 33 needs an immediate phone call (not message) to a dr (111 if out of hours).

17 is still too high though not quite as desperate. Please keep checking it’s going down and seek urgent help if it’s not and you feel unwell in any way at all. Are you able to check for ketones?

Whats normal for you? Is there any reason it should be so high, skipped meds, sick, insulin not working for some reason? (I know it can go off in some cases or lines get blocked etc but better speak with another insulin user for more info there)

Your profile doesn’t say what type or medication you are on. Can you update this so you can get relevant advice going forward.

Hi, just reading this thread looking for clues. Do you know what range of ketones would be dangerous? My overnight glucose readings are between 18 and 22. Ketones are sometimes 1.5, one time it went higher into the next colour, sometimes ok

Are they pee breath or blood? Blood is the most accurate.

Sorry I was reading on the hoof earlier and didn’t take it all in. Those glucose readings are really quite high, definitely high enough that it is not nutritional ketosis.

Are you still diet only as your profile says? Any flozins type medication?

What are you eating typically and how long have you been diagnosed?

edit to add I see you have started your own thread https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/ketones-how-high-is-too-high.192580/ so I’ll post on there instead of sidetrack this one further
