high blood sugars no reason

Hi i am type 1 lady age 70 i have always been fairly well controlled in the 30 odd years but since going on a diet my blood sugar levels have been high i have just had my evening meal mince (lean0 cabbage carrotts 2 small potatoes and a dessertspoon ful of mushy peas and apple for dessert i took 6 units of actrapid and long acting lantus nearly 2 hours later my bloods are 17 fed up had salad for lunch and porridge for breakfast . i have got an upset stomach after a coffee yesterday

You may want to re-evaluate what you're eating if this is a consistent result. I have found in my situation as someone with type 1 for 51 years that the condition doesn't remain static because the body does not remain static. My metabolic rate, pulse rate, changed once I hit my 50s and for about 6 months it was like starting all over again as it started to take longer to digest food, some foods started to have a different affect etc - it was a real shocker. Took a while to re-evaluate everything and I suspect as I get older it will continue to do so.
