I have been struggling for many months now due to several emotional/financial stresses this year, have been off the rails for a while but now I am an absolute train crash. Some of my stresses have been resolved but some are still ever present. I know I have to take charge of myself but at present I am finding it too difficult but then because of that my weight is going up even more along with my sugars. I have not been this out of control for quite some time and now find myself in a very vicious circle.
What I wanted to ask in particular today is as my numbers were high this morning I thought I would take my insulin and eat later on but the numbers did not come down - is this normal? I am on Humalog 25 which is a mixed insulin. I was actually hoping I could take my insulin and not eat to try and kick my body .
I am type 2 and have found stress has a real effect on your bg,ie increasing it.I think you really need to target the stress and hopefully your levels will return to normal, sorry I cant give any better advice than that.Talking about you problems with someone close will hopefully help, good luck.
For anyone using mixed insulin (twice daily) and facing very high bg levels, simply injecting the insulin and not eating food isn't necessarily going to work as bg levels can continue to be just as high. Eating food that doesn't consist of high amounts of carb usually enables insulin to lower bg levels
