Hi my sugars are really bad at the moment especially of a night. I take my bloods before bed and all I am getting is the word hi on my blood monitor. So the other night this happened and I ended up taking over 400 units of novorapid to make them come down. Through the day no matter what I eat for eg a banana I have to take 50 units of insulin. Could it be possible that the insulin might not be working for me?
Think you need to speak to your health team about the qty you are using. Does that mean you are using cartridge upon cartridge each day?
There is a U500 insulin which is basically 5 times as strong as the standard U100. Perhaps your medical team should be considering it. Also, it maybe that you need tablets to improve insulin resistance. Is this just happening to you? Are you rotating your sites?
Yes I am using a lot of insulin cartridges I have kidney disease caused by my diabetes and problems with my cholesterol again now caused by my diabetes going out of control. They now seem to be getting back under control, but this is because I am taking so much insulin. I eat healthy but because of the insulin I am taking I am putting on so much weight and it's just a vicious circle all the time. I also get extremely hungry at night anybody have a quick fix on how to stop this too lol
