I can't do it, I can't cut all carbs out. I can cut out all the sugary carb foods right now! But I cannot give up the starchy carbs. I am now in hospital being told to eat carbs to maintain my blood sugars as I was unconscious this morning and got told my blood sugar was 1.5 after waking up in the afternoon. The doctors at the hospital have referred me to see a diabetes specialist, dietitian, haematologist, endocrinologist and a opthalmologist as I've heard that they are testing me for rabson mendenhall syndrome and cushing's. This has seriously messed up my life. I don't know how I'm going to cope or gain control of this disease, it's just too frustrating
EDIT - Apparently Rabson-Mendehall only affects children, with a life expectancy of only a couple of years. Aren't you 24?
Hey bud it sounds like you are going through a lot
But after you get tested given medication etc
Go buy a health cook book
Look at ingredients I.e different meat fish and veg etc
Then go home and try cooking it
Forget nuts and stuff might make u throw up try basic yummy foods
As for your eating habits try to ease of slowly so one week no take outs I.e subway
Then following week no cakes biscuits etc
And then once u start cutting these things out then you will enjoy the foods you bought and if you want a tip on Facebook and Instagram follow this guy called thebodycoach
Guy is excellent and just explains it in the most simplest way
I was same as you with different health problems but eventually it all helps
I got a long way to go myself but after couple of weeks taking control and cutting out a few things my levels have dropped
All the best to your health and seriously I think u will get better it's just when your diagnosed it's horrible and depressing
And plus I think with the bad eating and insulin shots resulted in your very lows in blood sugar
Good luck buddy
Xx
So what treatments have you started? Strangely enough, I know quite a lot about one of the conditions you've mentioned, well two actually, although I'm not as knowledgeable in the second. Very interested how they will manage all this for you?
The Lidl rolls are called "protein rolls". They are a dark brown triangle with seeds. I really like them, and have half a roll for lunch sometimes. We don't have a Lidl where I live so I stock up if I'm near one and put them in the freezer, they defrost quite well. I think they bake them in store, they last quite a few days and are good toasted.I'm still on the same treatments as before, with new medication testogel and I've got to take a vitamin d supplement. I've also been told to not cut out carbs completely, instead I've been told that carb cycling maybe helpful.
I've also started to have lemon/lime water everyday and trying my best not to snack as much as I now know that my hunger pains, does not mean that I'm hungry after having no fluids or food for almost a day and I felt fine. I just automatically assume that I'm hungry and give in to temptation or boredom.
Can low carbing be done on a budget as I don't have much cash spare from my job seekers allowance after paying off rent and direct debits. Also what do the lidl low carb bread rolls look like as I've been to my nearest store and was looking in the bread section with no luck finding them.
