High bloods after eye screen

I have had my first diabetic eye screening test this morning. All went well. I have just tested my bloods twice with my monitor and its come up around 12 both times. I have never had seen it this high even after I have had the odd naughty food (takeaway etc). Or after any meals for that matter. I’m a-bit confused by it. Has anyone else noticed this. Because obviously it doesn’t make any sense.

Stress or anxiety can make your blood sugar rise. Even just the pressure of getting to an appointment can have an effect.

Apart from that have you eaten anything different this morning or last night?

Did you wash and dry your test site between those two readings. Sometimes contamination can cause this.

Yes to be fair it wasn’t something I was looking forward to. I’m the kind of person the cringes hard to anything concerning the eye balls. I didn’t even look into it too much incase I didn’t like what I read. Saying that I felt fine going in and the whole thing was extremely simple. So maybe I had a little anxiety. I’m going to retest soon as it’s been a few hours and I haven’t eaten since.

They have come down to 8.5 within the last hour n half. Hopefully will continue to fall as thats still to high

This is a libre graph from a day when I ate breakfast, and then a lunch at 12. At 4 pm I got a phone call putting me into a stressful situation until the very early hours of the next morning. There was no food at all in that time, only water.
See my bg rise! I'm sure I'm not unusual

That’s crazy how something like that can shoot up your blood sugars more then some foods could. I’m going to but it down to anxiety then. Probably start meditation as well haha

Strangely, though I appear calm under pressure. (Though a nice guy.) I had a very intense manager with one of my old jobs..
A colleague after overhearing one bit of “intensity” came up to me a while later suggesting “I wouldn’t let him talk to me like that” as I was giving my graph a quick look. The colleague also mentioned I must be doing well on the “stocks & shares.” :hilarious:

Nah mate. That’s my BG levels..

To be fair, my manager as I said earlier was a nice guy who was misunderstood by my colleagues. He was very supportive regarding any appointments.

Back to the eye screening. BGs. Some form of “white coat syndrome?”

Not crazy - survival. Your body prepares you for fight/flight, and needs glucose for it (among other things). Be proud of your body's efforts to help, even though they send your BG up. We are dynamic beings, and highly reactive. It's how your bloods go back down that is important, rather than how they ramp up to meet emergencies.
