Hi
I wrote a couple of months ago when first diagnosed, as had read some scarey stuff :?
I have now had 5 appoitments with the diabetic nurse who is brilliant. I have lost 7lb in weight and getting use to my healthier diet.
All good so far.
Anyway I have had high Bp since my son was born 12 years ago, but it is steadily rising and was 233/165 the other day. I am booked in for a 24 hour bp monitiring this week but im actually quite worried about it. The nurse did it 3 times to check and all three readings were the same. She didn't seem too worried and i didn't really know what the figures meant. When I told my father he was really shocked that the nurse didn't do anything there and then and said i was a stroke waiting to happen. SCAREY!!
So my question is should I be worried.
I take medication for my blood pressure, diabetes, mental health. x
Thankyou. xxxx

Loneliness and diabetes

 Hi Lisa welcome to the "scary" club. Yes I agree some of the stuff we read is scary . . . until we're better educated and that takes a little while to get your head around everything. Well done on weight loss its a good feeling eh! I can only assume your nurse was worried but didn't want to alarm you by panicking. She would have made contact with your gp and hence you are going to have 24 hour bp monitoring done. Its quite amazing how behind the scenes things are being organised unbeknown to us. They will know a lot better how to treat you after this has been done so dont you worry so much or you'll put your bp up even more lol. Just try and be patient a bit longer but if you do suddenly feel unwell just let them know and also tell them your worries and ask them to explain them to you. Take care and good luck

Hi Montana.
Thank you so much for writing back. Sorry I havn't been on here for a while. xxx
I have had my 24 hour readings now and had a letter through the post asking me to contact surgery as they have been trying to reach me by phone and havn't been able to.
So here we go again. Little miss stress head!!!
Im sure all is ok but have had enough of every time I see the DN she gives me more pills and diagnosis something else lol. xx
No idea what the results of ecg or 24 hour bp are yet but i'll call the surgery when they reopen on tuesday.
Thankyou again for your kind reply. x
:D
