High bsl in the morning.

Hi, I was told I am type two three months ago, have religiously stuck to a lchf diet but find my bsl is quite high in the mornings, it was 9.8 today even after a four mile run, is there anything further I can do to reduce this? Not really keen to start medication.

This is quite common, so you're not alone! Have a read up on dawn phenomenon (aka liver dump) - your liver is giving you a helping hand to start the day with plenty of energy. It should eventually come down, but generally your other levels need to have improved first.

Do you also test before exercise? In my experience, low grade exercise, like a stroll in the sunshine, reduces my blood score, whereas more demanding exercise, such as your run, would result in an elevated blood score (by comparison to the "before" score).

What are your fasting scores, the moment you wake, before tea, exercise, dressing, preparing breakfast or anything else? Dane phenomenon can be an issue, but deferring testing after getting up may force a similar reaction as your body tries to create the energy it considers you need for your run, or whatever.
