Just a couple of points. 1] 4.2 is not high ! 2] the overall figure doesn't really say so much as it is the total of both "good" and ""bad" cholesterol - so you need to see a breakdown. 3] Undoubtedly, from my experience, the experience of others and from the up-to-date advice of my unusually plugged in consultant diabetes specialist - low carb is the diet that works, so long as it is personally sustainable and you maintain good fats and fibre. 4] this diet (ie. LCHF) also tends to increase the good cholesterol and reduce the bad...so it suits Type 2s. One other thing..how do you know for sure that the statins caused the "side effects"? Good luck.
