High fasting blood sugars.

Mine are anything from 12.6 up, I can't get my fasting ones down. Any help welcome

Hi @dawnieuk6. It all takes time to get our blood glucose numbers under control. And we all have been where you are now. It can be sooooo frustrating. Have you checked out the Type 2 pages on the forum. It's full off great information to help you. This one on diet & lifestyle is a good start. http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diet-for-type2-diabetes.html There are an awful lot of very knowledgable people on the forum, with tons of experience, who happily share their advice & general diabetes management tips. Gathering information is your first step to helping yourself, so take a good look around the forum. Don't be afraid to post a question. People want to help. Good luck & good health hun. X

Welcome I'm sure if you give some more information such as what you normally eat others will be able to give some suggestions. Most here seem to use a low carbohydrate high fat diet, I tend to restrict carbs that spike me using my meter before a meal and either one or two hours after, If spike is less than 2 then feel that is OK. I also use walking as a help but some can't.

Yes, as Alisonjane10 suggests, it can take a while for things to settle down, so don't get to stressed in the short term.

When you talk about fasting sugars though, what time of day are the readings related to and how long is the fasting period?

Hi and welcome to the forum, as stated above if you can provide us with a bit more detail such as what you would typically eat in a day ect we may be able to be of more help. It does take time for your body to adjust, my fasting BS on diagnosis was in the 20's and now it is in the 4's and 5's but it took me 15 months to get it there.
