Type 2 High-ish morning readings

Hi, I was diagnosed with T2 in November last year. It was steroid induced. I was given three months to see if I could control it with diet and exercise which I did. Mainly I think because I bought my own blood testing machine and followed Dr Cavan's advice. After three months I am no longer considered to be T2 and am no longer going to be seeing the doctor or diabetes nurse. Only an annual HbA1c. I have not at any time taken any medicines for T2.

I'm still checking fairly regularly - I recorded everything I was eating so I know what I can and can't eat to keep my levels steady.

I'm finding that my blood glucose is kind of high first thing in the morning - it was 5.9 this morning but looking at my figures it has been everything from 5.3 to 6.1. It doesn't seem to matter what I have eaten the night before.

I find it starts high like that then it is never high again during the day - in fact before my evening meal it can vary from 4.6 to 5.7 but is never higher than that.

I have tried having a small glass of red wine with my evening meal but that doesn't seem to make any difference.

I feel very well, no problems with lack of energy or feeling hungry or anything like that and I always feel absolutely fine in the morning.

I've read that I could try waking up at 03.00 to test and find out if I am higher at that time.

Is it something I should worry about, is it just a quirk of my body or is there something I could do about it?

Any advice would be very welcome, thanks.
