Hi I am waking up during the night feeling sick and have ketones I wake up with them in the morning I drink plenty of water and have breakfast then they start reducing. My blood sugars are in good control. I have been eating really healthy lately and exercising to try lose some weight. Is having ketones dangerous?
As a new pump user, my dietician told me that ketones up to 0.6 are fine. Personally I eat low carb rather than keto, so often have ketones up to that level. As I feel queasy if mine go above that level I eat enough carbs so that they don't go above that.
However, if you are in dietary ketosis I think your ketones are probably going to be higher than that.
The risk of high ketones are if they are because you aren't taking enough insulin
