Type 2 High Level

Vicky, that is a very high number indeed. I would have thought it wise to seek some medical advice, I'm not sure if you are on meds, or insulin, or diet only..do you have input from any professionals? Perhaps if you give us some more detail we can offer better advice, especially about diet (NHS diet advice is usually pretty lousy and can make the problem worse)

In that case Vicky, I honestly think you need to speak to whoever is looking after your diabetic care as I think your medication needs looking at quite urgently. In the meantime, you should probably drink as much water as you can, to help flush the sugar out. Also your diet is so important, if you are eating a lot of carbs such as bread, pasta and rice (even the brown wholewheat types), they will be raising your levels. Cereals, anything starchy should be cut out if you can, that should help lower your numbers.
What kind of food are you eating for your meals, are you having any snacks etc?

i have had tea and biscuits and a bit of chocolate im on high steroids as i have been diagnosed with wegeners disease where my immune system attacks the soft tissue im just waiting to start chemotheraphy but in the mean time because its so high tonight what can i do ???

You need to seek emergency help.

Unfortunately, you can't uneat the food you ate earlier. In the future, it's important that you understand the relationship between carbohydrates and blood glucose levels. Your diabetes, combined with the steroids you're taking, combined with what you ate, combined with other possible factors is what's causing this.

It would be dangerous to try to exercise at levels that high. Again, if it were me, I would be seeking emergency medical help.

Totally agree with this. You can't uneat what you have already had, but you can make sure you don't do anything to make it worse, until you speak to someone. An out of hours doc probably won't be much good, maybe 111 can give you some advice. Vicky, nothing else with sugar in it, ok? No more biscuits, or choc, or bread tonight. Prednisolone (I'm guessing you're on that) shoots levels way up, and the food that you've eaten has made it a lot worse so make sure you don't eat anything else like that tonight - although I know the steroids make you starving hungry. Give 111 a call and see what they advise?

Personally in your situation I would call an ambulance as it would be unwise to try and make your own way to AE and if you are taken in by ambulance you will not spend hours waiting in a queue.

Believe me I have learnt by bitter experience it's not 111 its 999

Ok, majority opinion says A&E Vicky. Are you able to get yourself to the hospital, you haven't got kids or anything that you need to look after?
The reason I suggested 111 (although I'm not a fan) is that A&E aren't always that concerned when It's a type 2 presenting with numbers in the stratosphere:(. But hopefully Vicky will keep us updated.

I'm sorry but I have learnt one lesson now that I should have a long time ago no one and I mean no one who self presents to AE is treated as a medical emergency a friend of mine a few months ago had a similar level and was taken by ambulance to the hospital where she was given immediate attention..
