hi all, i recently had my yearly meet with my dsn. unfortunately my blood sugar readings was a littlt high so she upped my metformin to 4 a day plus one gliclizide. the other thing that is worrying is that my liver readings were high which has been the case for several years now. the dsn asked me what my g.p was doing about it and i replied nothing because he told me it was nothing to worry about. i dont agree . my dsn has suggested that she was going to ask my g.p to refer me to the lipid clinic at my local general hosp, but as yet i am still waiting for an appointment. i am so worried that my liver is being damaged . i also have two sisters who both have high liver readings one of them is type 2 diabetic like me. has anyone
on here ever had high liver readings and if so what was done about it, all replys are welcome. thanks starlight x

What do you mean by high liver readings? My GP told me my bilirubin was high but wasn't damaging and doesn't effect me so not to worry.

to be honest im not sure what high liver readings mean either, my dsn just told me that all the test for liver readings were high. will ask again what they mean, my g.p rang me and asked if i drank a lot of alcahol, i am tee total and never drink. i dont know what is causing my liver readings to be high.

Hi starlight,

If a person is overweight, has high cholesterol, high blood pressure and is diabetic then liver test results often show that they have Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. All it means is that there is a build up of fat in the liver.
If you can lose some weight this will help with the factors that are causing it and you also need to get your blood sugars under control. I know that all these things are easier said than done, especially in your case as I see from a previous post that you are unable to exercise. :(

Here is an explanation.
