How can I lower my morning BG's if I don,t have a snack before going to bed, morning BG's are high. If I have a snack before bed BG's am are lower? Anyone else the same?

I have high fbg. If I test right away it's not as high as waiting. If I eat protein right away after test its dropping and becomes normal. Once I tried running..baa ad idea. Went even higher. I have tried many things..piece of cheese at bedtime. Helps a bit. I go to bed low say 5.8 and wake up at 6 am with a 7.4 say. If I wake at 3 am and take its already on way up. Don't know if dawn or somogyi. I'm so tired of getting out of bed to try and figure out.
No official dx. No meds.exercise and protein and veggies.
Just convinced must be or fbg wouldn't be high. All preprandials and post prandials fine. I keep a log of what I eat and what tests are. I rarely spike over 140 unless I slip up and have something containing sugar.
So...I have decided to continue lc and hope fbg drops.
I don't have symptoms although I understand they might not be noticeable.
Eye exams each year fine. I have high blood pressure from anxiety but eye dr says no evidence of that either.
But as you can see...nervous Nellie...ha..high cortisol....see I think it's called medical anxiety.

I test as soon as I get out of bed.
I have breakfast within half an hour of getting up.
