I've been following a low carb diet (20-25g roughly daily) since November last year and have managed to get my HbA1c from over 100 to 58 and I'm working on getting it lower. I found after stubborn high readings by doing OMAD my before and after meal levels are great - usually always 4s and 5s. However my blood sugar in the morning is between 10 or 11. I know higher sugars upon waking are expected but it's a fair difference and I was wondering if this was a normal one or not. My sugars only rise 1mmol after eating at most now (either staying at 4 or going to 5) so I think I'm doing the diet correctly, especially since I can get 3s if I don't eat dinner soon enough.
I take 160mg of Gliclazide twice a day (I found the same results with my meal readings even when reducing to 3 tablets instead of 4 but because of these morning numbers I don't feel comfortable lowering it permanently yet but would love to reduce) and 25mg of Alogliptin. I was just wondering if that's a normal jump from after dinner to the next morning? I'm doing OMAD so I never snack after dinner.
