Hi frin
the type of insulin you're husband is taking is a mix of fast acting and long acting.with this type of regime it is fairly important to have a routine and do things at the same time each day .
Also the diet needs to be fairly constant as well as the amount of insulin intake is fixed.
perhaps you could describe a typical days eating menu wise to help.

Also -try not to worry
lots of great people here to help

He doesn't ever get these high readings usually well under control he has been on Humilog for 3 years and we do keep to regular meals and injections etc that's why this has concerned me so much really

Ok
so possibly an underlying change requiring a chat with hubby medical team.
A large overnight rise is sometimes referred to as the dawn phenomenon.
Keep us posted on blood glucos changes over the next couple of days .
What sort of Hb a1c does your hubby achieve ?

Last one ,I can't remember the numbers but go said it was a great result he is haing another done on Friday ,Thankyou I will keep putting his readings on today .

I did wonder if that maybe the reason ,he seems to be coming down with a cold and cough , should he just eat meals and take insulin as per normal if unwell xx

That is a tough question
knowing what I feel like with a bad cold or man flu I don't feel like eating
testing every hour and maybe sips of luckozade if bg'S drop
but insulin needs to be taken to keep levels from rising

ring his medical team or NHS 24/7... do you have sick day rules?
they may advise you to inject more insulin as a correction

Our go is coming round as husband feels unwell and shaky too ,thanks I will let you know

Best that he contacts his diabetes team and they will advise him on adjusting his insulin doses when unwell, just my opinion but he would be better on a basal/bolus insulin regime where he can adjust his insulin himself to the food he eats and increase it in times of illness and stress, ask him to ask his DSN/DN if this is possible.
