i was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with type 2 diabetes. My gp said my sugar levels were very high 22 and he gave me metformin tablets to take twice a day all went well and have had to blood checks done by him since then both very good. I also take flouresamide tablets for a different condition and due to the warmer weather i doubled my dose as suggested by gp and i have been doing this all summer succesfully as far as my other condition is concerned however i just tested my sugar level as i have been feeling really thirsty again and wondered if it was conected and sure enough it is at 18 do you think there might be a connection between the two,do i need to go see my gp i have an appointment but it is a month away do i need to go sooner.
thanks anguslady

Foresemide can indeed cause a rise in BGs.

With readings of 18 mmol/l you should be seeing your doctor.

He/she might want to offer another medication instead of Foresemide.

There are many duiretics with fewer side effects.

I assume you meant Foresemide?
