High sugar levels.

I wonder if anyone can help. I recently had blood tests done and the result was 90; but when I do the prick tests my numbers range from 3's to 9's with the occasional into double figures; but I'm just meaning10. or so; but never really high. Has this happened with anyone else? I know you'll be saying that I need a new monitor, been there done that I'm on my third new monitor, (Libra 2). I have a really good diet and don't eat a lot of carbs; I'm not saying I don't eat sugar, but I'm talking about a quarter of a teaspoon once a day. I am so tired of being spoken to like I am some kind of idiot who doesn't care about the long term issues. I really need help here.
 
Hi @TroiReese and welcome to the forums. Can I clarify that you are T2 on insulin and that you are using a Libre 2 to test your levels?

Do you ever use a glucometer to check the libre results? (It can be inaccurate for some people and some sensors).

A hba1c of 90mmol/mol corresponds to an average blood sugar of 13.9mmol/L over the last 3 months, so your readings suggest two things to me (disclaimer I am not a doctor and this is just an opinion)

1) your libre is inaccurate
2) your hba1c is inaccurate. (An hba1c can over or under read your sugar levels for a number of reasons eg if you have some sort of blood condition such as anaemia).

You could ask your doctor for a fructosamine test if you think your hba1c is inaccurate, but I personally would want to double check with a glucometer first.

Glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) should not be interpreted in isolation; the measurement accuracy and other parameters, including treatment goals and comorbidities, need to be considered.
