High sugars 4hours after eating

Hi, I am concerned. I have good control over my sugar levels, however tonight they were 11.2 3 hours after eating and an hour after that we're 12.4. I have had nothing out of the ordinary to eat and wonder why they are increasing.
I have a headache now...can only assume its the high levels (mine are rarely over 10 2 hours after eating).
Can stress/anxiety cause a rise?

Hi amoeba,

Maybe - sudden stress definitely causes your body cortisol levels to increase, which raises blood sugars, ongoing stress is less certain to do this, but could do. Did you eat anything different from usual? I found my BG would do a late rise like that if I'd not bolused enough insulin to cover what I ate for the meal. Could you be coming down with an infection?

I don't think I'm coming down with anything. I'm currently on novomix..awaiting basal bols regime. Had pasta for tea, but I often have that and in the same portion size as tonight, so nothing out the ordinary..hence my concern over increasing sugar levels.
A lot of tension in house due to an argument between my parents, so this could be a cause of short term stress.

Ooh, poor you, sounds horrible, and I think that could well have caused the problem. I think most of us get the odd high reading for no apparent reason at times, and if your control's generally good it really won't have any significant long term effect anyway. Hope things settle down for you soon.
