Not really knowing what's going on inside my Endocrine system!!!
Hi I'm aware that low blood sugars can lead to driving risks, however what about high sugars?

Is it not dangerous to drive when you're 'high' also? Is there an upper limit on the glucose range for being allowed to drive?

Once after I got home after a 10min drive ( I got hit with sudden tiredness and had to really focus) I went to bed and after an hour's sleep, I woke up with a dry throat, I was sweating, groggy and had hot feet. I tested and I was 13.3

Hi,

From a personal point of view I crashed into the back of someone at a roundabout a couple of weeks before I was diagnosed. The other driver did brake unexpectedly, but my reactions were definately off. My fasting levels when tested were over 20 so I suspect that my high levels may have played a part.

Although I don't think there's anything specific to high levels on the DVLA site, I now make sure I test before I drive anywhere.

Hi there, thanks for this, I had a look at this before posting.

It refers to insulin dependance/Hypos. As far I can see it doesn't mention about being cautious of high blood sugars. I wonder if anyone has had bad driving experiences and later realised they were driving with a high sugar level.

Pre-diagnosis, I once drifted to the right on a dual carriageway and got a very nasty fright from the next car who beeped their horn (and swore at me) it left me pretty shaken up. Also there were days pre-diagnosis when I just didn't 'feel right' so chose not to drive.

Pre-diagnosis, was driving down the M1 and had to pull over and get my work mate to Drive as within
30 min i could not see a thing or focus on anything ,lasted all day, by the end of the week I ended up in hospital with BG 35
