Hi I am new to this forum, I have type 1, can anyone give me some advice, when i wake up in the morning i am soaking wet and my blood sugar are high, i can go to bed on 10.8 and wake up at 19.1 for example. I do check my level during the night sometimes (not often) and they are fine. Does this happen to anyone else.
Thanks S

Hi SarahLouise and welcome to the forum. Some type 1 members will be along soon and will answer your question. In the meantime here is some basic information written by our friends Sue and Ken, the former monitors, for new members (whether newly diagnosed or not as in your case I think) where I am sure you will find some useful advice. Ask as many questions as you like as there is always someone who is happy to help.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, it is the first i have heard of this, i have had diabetes since 2006 and take novorapid and spilt levamir. My sugars can be all over the place at times, but to be honest the morning are the worst, i wake up really high and feel terrible and then i end up taking way to much insulin to get them down.

Hi Sarahlouise

Are you able to take some bg tests during the night to establish what time your levels start to go higher? Due to the way some of our bodies work, and also due to our bodies behaving differently and revivng whilst we are asleep people that are type 1's can find night times difficult to handle especially....either with nocturnal hypo's or Dawn Phenomenen....or both!!!!

You say your levels are all over the place...are you having lows and highs? If so, you may be needing to have a play around with the balance of your long and short acting insulins...are you testing pre meals and 2 hour after meals?

Are you happy at changing your insulin doses?
