Higher BG with a Cold??

Hello
I have T2 controlled by diet. I have started low carbing ( a bit of Atkins & Swedish Doc?) this week. I have also had a cold this week, starting Tuesday & peaking yesterday.

My BGs have been slowly increasing all week, from 7 on Mon to 10 this morning after breakfast, averaging about 8.5. Is this due to the cold/change in diet? I was looking forward to lower reading with new diet, and am frustrated by this glitch :(

Any advice greatfully received!

You're body will likely still be burning the carbs that are in your system. It takes 2-3 days to switch over from burning glucose to burning fat.

The cold will definitely impact your BS. It's a vicious cycle. If your BG is poorly controlled, you'll get a cold, and if you have a cold, your BGs will rise! I can tell you that I have not been sick since lo-carbing. Colds/flu are a thing of the past for me.

hya,
any virus/cold/illness will most likely make your blood sugars rise im afraid :) it should go back down when illness is going

Thanks for your replies - I though as much, but it's always good to hear it from others with experience!

I'm keeping going with the lc diet though coz even though my BGs are going up  I'm sure you're right and it's the cold that's doing it. I don't feel bloated anymore though, which in itself is a huge improvement!

Thanks

I can't believe I just said that! I feel like a yoghurt advert

Thanks curvyp - best laugh of the day so far.

Weird things can happen, sometimes I know when I'm coming down with something before the symptoms start as my BG goes up for no apparent reason.

One time I discovered I was doing major spikes around 1/2 hour when I peak usually around the hour mark
