Highs at night

Hi all,
I've just done my nightly test and really high at 15. I've injected with lantus (my usual 8 units) and will now be testing myself in an hour to see where I am (maybe in the night too). Is there anything else I need to do? If I'm still so high in an hour was going to inject with 2/3 units of novorapid to help bring it down.
I know exactly why I'm high, it's my birthday tomorrow and had a lot of birthday cake which I didn't think I'd have but also had wine so hopefully of I have some novorapid it won't effect it too much (having had wine too I mean). Any advice greatly advise.

Hi @Lau89 and happy birthday for tomorrow :)

Seeing as you've been drinking wine just go easy with the correction dose if do go ahead and inject, hopefully in an hour or two your bg levels will be dropping. Take care.

Thank you :)
I haven't been this high in a while so feel a little uneasy with it but will see how my levels are in a while, don't want to go too far the other way either. Thanks again

Hey @Lau89
happy birthday for tomorrow !!!!!:)
i hate being high too but you could maybe excuse yourself on this occasion because of your birthday :)

another option is take the correction and set an alarm to test at 1AM or possibly 2AM

Thank you @himtoo
I woke at 1am and my sugars had come down to 8mmol so didn't do any correction :)
brilliant -- don't ya love it when the plan works :D
