Hiii everyone , this is my first post at this site , today i was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes i feel soo overwhelmed with everything they told mee and most of it went over my head I couldn't take everything in that the nurse was telling mee she said that my reading should be in between 5 and 7 and my first reading today was 24.5 seemly that's very high not that I understand , can anyone help me to understand what she means x

Hi @ROSEMARY 673 and welcome to the forums.

Normal blood sugars for a non diabetic will be between 5 and 7 (is this before a meal or on waking?) but as you are newly diagnosed your readings are much higher. Yes 24.5mmol/L is quite high and I'd imagine that you will feel much better as they gradually reduce.

Can I ask what medication you've been put on for your diabetes?

Here's a link from this site explaining blood sugars.

I'm sure some T2s will post soon with T2 specific information. Once more welcome.
