I would any tips and support you have for holidays and social events please. I was scared by my last HBAC1c at 77 and really want to lower it. I can go low carb though not sure what to do while on holiday and social events.

This might be a no brainer for some of you but I'm struggling with the amount of discipline involved to stay on the straight and narrow though I've managed to cut sugar, don't really drink and work out lots.

Holiday is to Singapore for a big birthday and just getting my head round all this.

Check out the place you'll be staying, and also look at traditional food for the area - if it isn't a mixed-up dish of rice plus veg/meat or a thick soup then you could probably just eat the meat/fish, etc. Practise saying 'hold the rice' in Tamil or Malay as needed.
Also, there are always eggs.

I often have curry without rice, and just add some green veg as a side plus plain yogurt if it is too hot without rice.

Travelling by plane is a bit harder as any 'diabetic/ meals are aimed at T1 - but you can try asking in advance for a keto meal as a disability adjustment.
Travelling within the UK is easier, I take tinned tuna, nut butter balls, Cheesies, etc. to hotels plus some low carb cake.
Eating out in the UK, ask for burgers without the bun, pasta sauce without the pasta - I've even negotiated getting the pizza toppings without the base in a UK hotel, all served in little oven-proof dishes with melted cheese on top.
For buffet-type events with friends, I make a low carb chocolate mousse with fresh raspberries so I can avoid their cakes.

I am not sure about that.
I do not know who they are aimed at as someone with Type 1 diabetes does not hav eto limit what they eat as long as we dose our insulin appropriately.

I usually order an Asian Vegetarian meal. Most of the time, this is a curry with rice that is not mixed in.

They are often aimed at the old fashioned idea of a diabetic meal, and never suitable for someone who is keto/low carb.

Although originally written for Christmas, I find this blog post very useful for any social celebratory occasion . Lots of tips

What a brilliant link, and also those leading on from it. Thank you Mrs.A2!
