Holidays

I drove the Garden Route from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town, with a week in the Addo Elephant Camp. Equal to actually scrubbing an elephant in a river near Cochin. Just came back from whale watching in the Azores. Dived and fished in the Andaman and Coral Seas. Drove from LA to New Mexico via Arizona and Utah. Not showing off, honestly. It's what I do with my money. Each trip, at the time, was the best holiday ever.

Worst? Greek toilets on Zakythos? Hurricane Joaquin trapping us in Charleston? Not really had a bad holiday. Anything's better than working!
 

My favourite place that I have visited in yorkieland is around the coastal areas around Filey.
My mother was brought up in Hull, and we recently through Rovers went to North Ferriby and we looked for food, this took us to a few villages within sight of the Humber bridge and these villages were something different. Really lovely unspoiled and I was totally out of my depth being a total city dweller!
Also been to Blackburn's training ground and the village it is set is very remote in Lancashire. Beautiful, tranquil setting. Could only get there using country lanes!

Lovely area, we holidayed at Filey when the kids were little, it was at the Blue Dolpin Holiday Park (not sure if it's still there).

All along that coastline is beautiful, we like the walk from Whitby to Robin Hood's Bay, it follows the old Scarborough Railway Line, the chippy at Robin Hood's Bay is one of the best in Yorkshire.
 

That is brilliant @noblehead. We did all four haven camps along that coast and always went to the bay to have fish and chips, however the best was a cafe in Scarborough. They gave you two plates, one for the half whale, the other for chips and mushy peas! And another plate for bread! (Couldn't eat it all!)
There was a chippy in Filey called The Grapes, which wasn't bad for value.
Yes, Blue Dolphin is still there, my favourite and the biggest which is Primrose Valley.
(The old butlins camp and expanded south of Filey) My daughter is still a regular visitor to the camps, she lives in yorkieland.
A lot of people rave about Whitby, but I have never had a good time there or it doesn't enthuse me, it is just a fishing village with Bram Stoker as an attraction! The views are mostly the same all up that coast.
The coastal walk from the Humber up the coast is exceptional and if it wasn't for the Lakes, it would be one my favourites.
Going from Pickering on the North Yorkshire Railway through 'Heartbeat' country is a nice day out. But watch out for leaves on the track.

Scarborough does have some good fish and chip cafes...........agreed.

Don't recall The Grapes,but good to know the Blue Dolphin is still there, we visited the Primrose Valley site and it was massive, probably 3 times the size of the Blue Dolphin. Pleased your daughter enjoys the sites

We like Whitby, love walking around town and having a walk up the Abbey steps to get the view from the top, they do milk the Bram Stoker link but there's many businesses that benefit from it.

We've travelled on the railway, Goathland is a nice little village and nice to see the location where Heartbeat was filmed.
 
The best holiday I have with my close friends and family in LA last month. We celebrate my Birthday and I wanted something special. We booked escape room Knight’s Legacy. This was our first time in escape room. This room was for beginners and it was such a great experience. Very nice interior design, had great effects and technology

I remember a holiday on the Isle of Wight some years (30 or so) we rented an apartment at Luccomb Chine near Sandown with in laws. Weather was
so we went to Brading Waxworks. Father in law collapsed half way round so we had to get an ambulance to get him to hospital & the ride in the ambulance was the highlight of sons holiday
 
just returned from Australia, very peaceful country
