It's strange how I like the idea of complementary therapies, I suppose it's because I feel that I might be able to replace prescribed medication which for me has caused certain problems over the years. Of course these complementary therapies don't get tested as thoroughly as prescribed medication although prescribed medication which might have more testing doesn't always get reported 100% accurately.

When I go to my chiropractor for essential maintenance on my back I frequently read something called "What the doctors don't tell you", an interesting read, nothing outrageous, no outlandish claims, just interesting bits and pieces. I received an eMail from them with this link - https://www.wddty.com/conditions/diabetes-regulating-your-blood-sugar-naturally.html. It might be interesting if only to encourage further personal research. I like to think I have an open mind . . . . . hopefully not so open my brain falls out.

hmmmm a bit further down the page...
"A diet high in complex carbohydrates and plant fibres may be the most effective one. This diet would include lots of cereal grains, legumes and root vegetables, while restricting simple sugars and fat. In one report, it led to the discontinuation of insulin therapy in 60 per cent of IDDM patients and significantly reduced insulin use in the other 40 per cent (Am J Nutr, 1979; 32: 2312-21)."
so eating high carb cures Type 1 diabetes?

If you follow the trail back through that American Nutrition journal, then the report they refer to is from the Whole Plant Zero Fat brigade (or WFPB) It appears to be an ultra strict Vegan diet using 'natural sourced and macrobiotic' materials. There are serious doubts as to whether this study is valid, but it does have many adherents who develop an almost religious zeal. They have tried posting their cure-all diet here on this forum before, but the threads do not survive for long.
