Ta I may get some and have a go just out of curiosity you know.http://www.gpsupplies.com/catalogsearch/result/?___SID=U&q=rapilose
I bought a pack of 12 tests - though at presen
t they seem to be selling 1 or 24. Not sure if @bulkbiker used somewhere different.
Well if you did, I would make a bet that your results will be much better than mine
A big thank you to @bulkbiker , @CherryAA , and @Bluetit1802 for doing this test - fascinating stuff and very brave. I would be willing to have a go at this once I get my next Hba1C done (end of Sep) - I know it probably wouldn't make that much difference as a one off, but cant bring myself to do it before -
I hope you do, and hope you post your results!
I thought I was being VERY brave. I made the decision to do one a couple of months ago and kept putting it off. I found the Rapilose solution a long time back. It was only when people here began doing it that I took the bull by the horns. I ummed and ahhhed about whether to increase carbs to above 150g for 3 days prior and in the end made a hash of it. I was very nervous, but once I started it was fine. I had a very lazy morning sitting at my computer still unwashed and in dressing gown, which was quite nice. My poor meter was worked over time, and my fingers took a hammering. My results are disappointing and I'm not sure what they tell me, especially as I didn't "carb up" properly. However, it is worth a try.
Not sure I would say they are disappointing.. just took a bit longer to come down but come down they did!
Your total rise wasn't a lot more than mine and interesting that you ended up in the 4's like I did. Looks like our responses are pretty similar.
I think you did brilliantly and it must be nice to know that your insulin is still working. You got a really nice fall even if you were dissatisfied with the time. It wasn't a lot after the 2 hour mark. All in all really interesting. That is very kind of you to say that!It looks like I have a delayed insulin response, but I am consoling myself that this is due to not carbing up properly. My pancreas was asleep. I think it would put me in the Impaired Glucose Tolerance group had it been a diagnosis. It wasn't so horrendous to do so I will have another go but will try to carb up beforehand. That is the difficult bit! It's years since I ate more than 30g carbs other than the odd occasion.

You've obviously got a fully awake body now!Thank you.The weird thing is, I am still in the 4s now, 6 hours after starting, and I've had my lunch! I'll take that.

Bravo @Bluetit1802 - given you were a bit anxious & didn't carb up the way you had wished I think that's a pretty good responseI do hope we see a few more. I think I just need to be OK with the possibility I might fail again & that its OK if I do - I've no plans to move away from low carb so wheres the harm right?
I have no idea if this is linked - but if you look at our signature you will find that both @bulkbiker and I have almost the same levels of both HDL and Trigs in our bloods on our recent tests.
In my first few months, despite improvements elsewhere. My HDL stayed stubbornly low for the first 6 months and it took about 12 months to get to a healthy level.
If you look at this chart
http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/you-can-measure-your-own-insulin-resistance.126095/
You will see that you are at about the same stage I was after 6 months in terms of Trigs and HDL . It will be interesting to see if your new results follow down a similar path.
Its a pity more people don't post their fasting blood glucose, and cholesterol make up on the same day each time they get their Hba1C results then we could see if there is a pattern to this !
It looks to me as if you all had better results than Suzy (in the worked example) and even better when you consider that the example here was 60G and not pure glucose, would have needed to be converted even if quickly.
